On the 15.03.2019 in the premises of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia was held the eleventh session of the Council for development of the Skopje planning region.
At the meeting, besides the Mayors of the Council for Development of Skopje Region, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in charge of economic issues and coordination of the economic departments Dr. Kocho Angjushev, the Minister of Local Self-Government Suheil Fazliu, the Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government Dejan Pavleski, Director of the Regional Development Bureau Ramiz Rexhepi as well as representatives from the Swiss Embassy and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
The meeting opened a discussion on the identified needs and challenges that the Skopje region faces. The discussion was opened by the President of the Council of the Skopje Planning Region Boris Georgievski. The Director of the Center for Development of the Skopje Planning Region, Ljupco Kec Mickovski, presented draft initiatives for constructive discussion. As building institutional capacities is a complex process and involves joint cooperation in the process of balanced and regional development, all invited actors have openly discussed at the session and have taken their position in the direction of utilizing the potentials for development of the Skopje region and the proposed draft initiatives.
Additionally, at the session, the three project proposals, which emerged from the forum sessions, were voted in the framework of the project “Sustainable Inclusive Balanced Regional Development”, whose funding was provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
The meeting also discussed ongoing activities for the scope of work of the Center for Development of the Skopje Planning Region.
