The Center for the Development of the Skopje Planning Region, from November 28 to 30, 2022, on the “Zoom” online platform, iheld an expert mission of the Instrument for Technical Assistance and Information Exchange of the European Commission – TAIEKS, dedicated to Waste Management and Development of the Local Economy . The expert mission takes place under the leadership of European experts Alessandro Pesa, Advisor in the Office of the Mayor of Capanori and Nicola Carnini from ASCIT Group.
30 participants from the municipalities in the Skopje region, EU4M representatives, as well as representatives from other institutions and municipalities take part in the Expert Mission. Mrs. Elizabeta Bouva from the Secretariat for European Affairs and Mrs. Ana Mazneva-Karanfilovska from the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning addressed the opening of the Expert Mission.
At today’s session, the experts, through a direct example from the Italian municipality of Cappanori, presented the role of the municipalities in the process of implementing the circular economy as an opportunity to successfully deal with waste, but also as an opportunity to increase the local economy. Reuse of resources leads not only to the reduction of waste, but also, more importantly, to the creation of new services and thus to new jobs.
The event continues tomorrow and the day after (November 29 and 30) with an online workshop, where experts will share the best practices for dealing with construction waste and rubble, as well as furniture and textile waste, and their application in the circular economy, as well as examples of successful campaigns to raise public awareness of waste prevention and promotion of circular solutions.
At the end of her address, Roseta Arsovska, Coordinator for Regional Development at the Center for the Development of the Skopje Planning Region, thanked the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia and the Secretariat for European Affairs under the Government, who made it possible to implement and approve the application of the Center for the Development of the Skopje Planning Region for obtaining expert advisory support through the Instrument for Technical Assistance and Exchange of Information of the European Commission – TAIEKS.
