In frame of the grant scheme for the support of innovate projects financed by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Ministry of Local Self-Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Center for Development of Skopje planning region implements the Action “Sustainable and inclusive regional development”.
As an experience for the project activity “Regional Community Forums”, the project proposal for designing and building an “Inclusive Children’s Playgroun”” ofr children of all abillities was launched. This project proposal is implemented by the Center for Development of Skopje planning region.
The project “Inclusive children’s playground” is a reflection of the inclusion process in reality by creating a safe and stimulating community for acceptance and cooperation, creating a space where children with disabilities will feel comfortable and free and will be able to interact directly with other children. and without disabilities.
Inclusive playgrounds do not define playing space, embracing the true meaning of inclusion and adaptive play. Through play, children recognize the inclusive process and reject the unnecessary prejudices that are present between them. Play is an important factor in children’s lives. Playgrounds can offer many opportunities for children to further develop physical, cognitive, sensory and social skills. Inclusive design incorporates a balance of game experiences to build on all of these skills while promoting positive social activities among them.
The playground itself is designed to create a sense of safety and security, and is achieved by the very style, type and purpose of various types of props, urban gear and associated installations. The playground covers an area of 450m2 and is located next to Delfina Square in the Vlae neighborhood of Karpos municipality.
The construction of the Inclusive Children’s Playground has achieved project goals aimed at socializing children and enhancing their physical and social skills, while emphasizing the principles of equal opportunity and inclusion.
The total value of the project is MKD 2,646,818.00 out of which MKD 2,458,803.00 are from the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Swiss Development Agency, and MKD 188,015.00 are co-financed by the Municipality of Karpos.
